Why Do You Need Short Term Insurance?
Most provinces have a 90-day waiting period before residents are eligible to receive coverage under the Government plans. If you are a Canadian resident returning to the country after an extended stay abroad, you may not be eligible for care under your provincial plan for the first 90 days after you arrive. With healthcare costs steadily increasing, remaining uninsured until you are eligible for coverage under your provincial plan is a risk that could have a devastating effect on your finances. Obtaining Returning Canadians Insurance can help protect you from the financial impact of a medical emergency or accident.
How Can Short Term Health Insurance Protect You and Your Family?
In the event you or a member of your family needs medical treatment before you are eligible for coverage under your provincial plan, short term health insurance will pay for the cost medical emergencies, minimizing your out-of-pocket expenses. Furthermore, having adequate coverage will give you peace of mind, knowing you will be able to get the care you and your family need when you need it without breaking the bank.
How Does It Work?
You select individual or family coverage up to a maximum of $150,000. For every covered medical emergency you or a member of your family experiences, you pay your choice of deductibles (there is a $0 deductible option) and receive the emergency treatment you need. After the deductible is satisfied, your insurance provider pays the balance of the cost of the treatment until you either reach your policy maximum or you become eligible for coverage under your provincial plan.

Furthermore, an insurance expert can help you assess your needs and choose the benefits that are right for you based on your unique circumstances.
